About Mark

Giclée Printer Mark Parry - Giclée PrintersMark has been self employed since 1995, as mechanical fault diagnostic engineer, employing 12 engineers. In 2006 leaving engineering far behind, Mark’s passion from a young child was photography, but Mark’s father said “photography was never a career choice”

A chance encounter a TV chef, got Mark involved in a food photography project, photographing amazing food and drink for restaurants and hotels.

In 2012, Mark’s artist wife Helen, had experienced every kind of hell, in her pursuit of trying to find a great giclée printing company. On returning from a photoshoot in London, Mark arrived home to find a new state of the art, commercial giclée printer, installed in his dining room. Helen said “I’ve had enough, I’m going to print my own work, after all, I can’t be any worse than whats already out there”.

Being a food photographer, meant I already new about exacting colour, colour matching was something that I was already doing on a daily basis. I had a great understanding of working colourspace, pixel density, hue, saturation and shadow and highlight. I was able to apply my engineering knowledge to designing and building a new colour management suite, also in designing a new ‘photoshop’ driven computer system. I also rewrote the firmware for my camera, tailoring it directly at fine art capture. I have exacting standards and I’m quite the perfectionist, I don’t believe in can’t or impossibilities, only solutions. My motto throughout my working life has always been:

‘Nothing is impossible; Impossibilities are for others’

Helen also asked Mark to start managing her watercolour portfolio, getting her work into galleries, competitions, organising framers, liaising with buyers. In December 2014, I launched the Artist’s Print Room to other artists, illustrators, photographers and galleries… The rest as they say is history….
