Canson Infinity Introduces New Giclée papers
In 2020 the Canson company acquired the Arches business. Arches has been a paper mill since 1492 and is synonymous with Van Gogh, Matisse, Chagall and Picasso. Since their acquirement Canson’s research and development team have developed a proprietary inkjet receiving layer, which has been applied to four Arches digital giclée papers. The combination of the inkjet receiving layer and the natural white ARCHES® base offers real tangible advantages for artists and photographers. Looking to create vibrant prints on a pure white base, that will not degrade over time.
We’ve created a breakdown and information for each of the four new Canson Infinity fine art giclée papers.
Canson Infinity Arches 88 310gsm Matte
This giclée paper is 100% cotton, with an ultra smooth surface finish and a soft feel to the paper. It has a pure white tone and is free of any optical brighteners (OBAs). This paper offers deep blacks, natural whites and great tonal range for artists and photographers.
Canson Infinity Arches BFK Rives Pure White 310gsm Matte
It is a 100% cotton paper with a very soft and supple feel. The paper has a very pure white tone and again is free of optical brighteners. It offers a great pure white background for artists and photographers looking for giclée prints with great colour rendition.
Canson Infinity Arches BFK Rives White 310gsm Matte
This paper is also 100% cotton with a lovely balanced soft grain, bringing out the detail in every image. This paper has a natural white tone and is also free of optical brighteners. The paper has an excellent tonal range, with great highlights and midtones. This paper has a slightly smoother feel compared to the BFK Rives pure white.
Canson Infinity Arches Aquarelle Rag Pure White 310gsm Matte
Arches Aquarelle is a well known watercolour paper. Using the watercolour paper as a base, the paper has an even natural grain and a distinctive felt finish. It is a 100% cotton paper with a pure white base and contains no optical brighteners. This paper produces a superb colour rendition for artists and photographers requiring a great tonal range and highlights. As mentioned earlier, we think this paper might become a replacement for the Aquarelle Rag. The most notable difference is that the New Arches Aquarelle has a pure white base. So a whiter paper than the existing Aquarelle Rag.

We believe in providing you with as much information as possible so you can see what options are available to you. Creating doesn’t stop once you click the camera or put down your pencil or brush. It’s just the beginning of another creative lucrative journey for you.
